Rafael Benitez hints at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valencia-c40863
Currently unemployed, Rafael Benitez admitted it was his dream to return to Liverpool someday in the future. The Spanish manager left the English Premier League side last summer for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan and was succeeded by Roy Hodgson at Anfield. Both managers did
not have the success they expected at their respective clubs, Benitez left Inter in December while Hodgson left just a month later in January.
Even though Hodgson had no trouble finding another job in mid-season, taking over West Bromwich Albion, Benitez was not as lucky. The Spaniard is still unemployed and revealed he would not mind managing Liverpool once again. The current Liverpool boss Kenny
Dalglish is doing well at the club but the caretaker manager has not been offered a new contract as yet.
This has given Benitez some hope about his chances of a comeback, he said while speaking to reporters, “I am really proud of being the manager of Liverpool Football Club and I would like to come back in the future. You never know (when) because Kenny is
doing a really good job. It's a question of time. You never know in the future. It would be a dream. I would be really pleased to come back in the future.”
Benitez had a colourful career at the club, from early success to the eventual decline. He was an outspoken and confrontational character, his rows with Jose Mourinho there to prove it. In his first season at the club, he not only improved the Reds domestic
form but led them to the FA Cup and the coveted Champions League in a roller coaster of a final against AC Milan.
His second season at Anfield was plagued with his confrontation with the new American owners, George Gillett and Tom Hicks. The rift between the owners and the manager often affected the team’s performance, as the two could never quite agree on spending
in the transfer windows. He finished trophy-less in his last two seasons at the club and it was the seventh place finish in the 2009 season that eventually led to his sacking.
He was appointed as the Inter Milan coach just a few days after leaving Liverpool, taking over from long-time rival Jose Mourinho, who had left the club after leading them to the treble. The Spanish manager could not manage to fill Mourinho’s big shoes and
it was pressure that got to him. He left in December and according to him has many clubs waiting in line for him.
However, Benitez said he had no intention of taking over any other club in the Premier League, especially a Liverpool rival club. He continued, “Fans in Liverpool know the teams I would not go (to) but I think these clubs wouldn't offer me a job. I'm a professional
but obviously some clubs I would not go to, especially the big rivals of Liverpool. I won't say the names, but it's not difficult!”
Benitez is also linked with a return to former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Club-Valencia-c38828, where he is still a fan favourite. Local reports suggest that the La Liga outfit could be looking to bring back the Spaniard, who led them to two La Liga titles and a UEFA Cup during his time
with them. Valencia are in need of a change in management, having recently been dumped out of the Champions League and sitting at third place in the La Liga.
