Rafael Benitez takes a swipe at Liverpool owners, former boss still unhappy - Part 2
Despite performing well at the top flight of English football for the last 6 seasons, Liverpool failed to lift any silverware during this time. Rafael Benitez finally had to call it a day. Just recently, the current Intern Milan coach has finally spilled
the beans with the reasons for Liverpool’s decline.
Rafa Benitez went on and said, “The last year at Liverpool, I had directors who knew nothing about football and you couldn't talk about football with them.”
In reference to his relationship with Inter Milan President Massimo Moratti, the Spaniard expressed, “It is good. He is a man who knows football. He might get angry when the team doesn't win and this is normal, but at least you can talk about football with
him.”
In the last match against Bari, Benitez finally found back some solid footing after some controversial performances by his team. The Nerazzurri had quite recently defeated them 4-0.
Inter Milan, which is currently at the top the table after four matches have won three clashes with one draw. They now have an impressive goal difference of + 6 with 10 points in the table. However, they are closely followed by Chievo Verona and Brescia
at nine points each.
Liverpool on the other hand are at the 16th position in the Premier League and have played 5 matches, winning one, drawing two and losing two. While their goal difference of -3, Liverpool have a total of 5 points in the kitty up till now and
this does look like another bleak season for them.
In their last match, which was a Carling Cup fixture, the team lost on penalties to Northampton Town. After a poor performance, Liverpool was able to draw the match as Anfield faithfuls witnessed one of the worst performances by their team in the ongoing
season.
The Liverpool exit by Rafa has after all proved to be a blessing in disguise as over time, the manager is growing more accustomed to the Italian brand of club football. There were rumours of players like Wesley Sneijder, Maicon and Diego Milito making a
move to Real Madrid to rejoin their former coach Jose Mourinho. However, so far, Rafa has convinced them to stay in Italy rather than Spain.
The unity in the tattered Italian club seems to be growing too as Julio Cesar and Diego Milito have expressed that they are happy with the way things are proceeding. If all goes well, another successful season is on its way.
Liverpool on the other hand continues to fall and have no one to blame but themselves.
At the club, their players are stirring up an ugly broth as most recently, defender Daniel Agger lambasted his own coach Roy Hodgson when he said that the coach was brought to manage a club that was under pressure. So far he has been failing to do so with
his poor tactics and strategies.
Later, Agger apologized for his comments, saying that they were not intended to insult the former Fulham manager who had accomplished a splendid job with them.
With progress at Anfield expected to be slow, it seems that Rafa was after all the man who benefits from all this. So far the Liverpool board has failed to comment in reply to his accusations.
