Rafael Benitez to be confirmed as Inter Milan boss “today or tomorrow”
Former Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez will be confirmed as the new manager of European champions Inter Milan in the next 24 hours, according to a director of the Italian club.
Benitez, who left Liverpool by mutual consent on Thursday, is on holiday in Sardinia at the moment, and is expected in Milan once Inter make an official announcement. That, according to director Marco Branca, will come sooner rather than later.
“We have to define some details. It could become official today or tomorrow at the latest,” he said.
His comments come after Inter president Massimo Moratti announced that a deal to make Benitez to successor to José Mourinho was close to completion, with the Spaniard eager to get back to work as soon as possible.
It is believed that Benitez began talking to Inter just a day after he left Liverpool, and it now appears that he won’t be out of a job for long.
