Rafael Benitez wants another striker at Napoli – Football News

Napoli manager, Rafael Benitez, has admitted that he wants another world-class striker at the club after the arrival of Gonzalo Higuain from Real Madrid earlier this week. The tactician stated that there needs to be competition
for places if the club needs to be playing at the highest level in the UEFA Champions League next season.
The Naples-based side recently sold their prized assed http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dries-Mertens-c11679, Gonzalo Higuain, Jose
Callejon and are in search of another striker.
The side has been widely linked with the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Martinez-c24468 as possible transfers but no confirmation has been made as of now.
Benitez claimed that he wants another striker to compliment Higuain as Napoli will be playing in many competitions next season. He insisted that there needs to be depth in the squad and competition for places will only make the
side better.
“I want a striker at Higuain's level to be competitive in the league and the Champions League. Last year, Napoli had 14 alternatives. Three are gone, so there is a need for more reinforcements,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
On the other hand, Jackson Martinez’s representative http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 were after the player. He stated that the player has already agreed terms with the Serie A giants but it is the Portuguese club that are holding
on. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186 want Napoli to pay the player’s €40 million release clause which could be a major hurdle in the deal.
“There's an agreement with the player, but we're missing one with Porto and the club don't want to sell him. The only way it could happen in my opinion is that they pay the €40m release clause, otherwise he won't leave,” he concluded.
Porto have already lost the likes of Joao Moutinho and James Rodriguez to AS Monaco earlier in the summer and it is highly unlikely that they will let Martinez go also. They will be looking to demand as much money from the deal
as possible.
