'Rafael Benitez's separation had become inevitable': Inter President Massimo Moratti
Rafael Benitez has parted ways with FC Internazionale. Earlier, it had been reported that the working relationship between the Spanish coach and the club’s top management has broken down.
This was mainly due to Inter’s poor domestic form which has seen them drop to 7th place in the Italian Seria A standings.
It had already been predicted that the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 FC manager would not be able to fill in the shoes of ex-Inter manager Jose Mourinho at Internazionale.
Jose, who joined Real Madrid this summer, left Inter after recording a treble success last season. He won the Seria A title, the UEFA Champions League and the Italian Cup in 2009/2010.
Inter won the FIFA Club World Cup this weekend, but this trophy could not stop Rafael from being shown the door by the club.
In his message, Inter President Massimo Moratti said, “I am upset about the end of the working relationship with Benitez, but the separation had at this point become inevitable. All the names linked with the future of the coaching position at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 are interesting.”
Former AC Milan coach Leonardo Nascimento has been tipped as the forerunner of succeeding Benitez. However, an official announcement has not been made yet.
Meanwhile, after the club's official announcement, Benitez talked to the media and expressed his emotions on his departure. It was a short stay (6 months) at San Siro for the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valencia-CF-c40864 coach.
He said, “I want to thank everyone for the support given to me during my time at Inter. I also want to personally thank, on behalf of my staff, the players, the employees at the club, and the fans who had faith in us.
“It is also my wish to bid farewell to the players, the staff and the employees. To all of them, and to the club and fans, I wish the utmost sporting success in the future.”
Although, Benitez did not mention to where he will be heading after his Italian experience, but pundits have predicted that the 50-year-old’s next destination will be his home country, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011.
Rafael Benitez has 2 La Liga titles, 1 UEFA Europa League (formerly known as UEFA Cup), and a UEFA Champions League crown to his managerial CV.
