Rafael Munoz Perez wins Men’s 50m butterfly gold: Day two – European LC Championships
Rafael Munoz Perez of Spain won gold medal of the Men’s 50m butterfly on second day of the European Long Course Championships in Debrecen, Hungary on Tuesday, May 22.
Munoz faced tough competition from Frederick Bousquet of France in the first half of the swim but with his astonishing efforts, he succeeded in proving his eligibility for gold medal of the event.
With his remarkable efforts, Munoz Perez cruised his way towards the finishing wall as fastest swimmer and clocked a time of 23.16 seconds for gold medal.
His title-claiming effort remained 0.14 seconds ahead of Bousquet, who stepped on the finishing end for silver medal by producing a time of 23.30 seconds.
The silver medallist was followed by Yauhen Tsurkin of Bulgaria, who reached the finishing wall for bronze medal of the discipline by producing a time of 23.37 seconds.
Fourth finest spot of the race was secured by Nikita Konovalov of Russia, who was 0.06 seconds slower from overpowering his foregoing finisher and settled on the finishing blockade as fourth position holder by posting a time of 23.43 seconds.
Konovalov was trailed by Milorad Cavic of Serbia and Andriy Govorov of Ukraine, who tried hard to overpower each other over the finishing end but ended in a joint finish for fifth position.
The duo remained only 0.10 seconds slower from his former finisher and reached the finishing end for fifth position by producing a time of 23.53 seconds.
Seventh best qualifying position of the discipline was secured by Ivan Lendjer of Serbia, who stayed 0.15 seconds slower from his preceding swimmer and transpired on the finishing end by submitting a time of 23.68 seconds.
Subsequently, Lendjer remained 0.12 seconds faster from Amaury Leveaux of France, who failed to upset any of his challengers in the single lap butterfly event and hit the finishing wall with the timing of 23.80 seconds.
In addition, the position holders received a huge round of applause from the audience for their notable efforts at the medal distribution ceremony of the championship while the championship will end on May 27 after the conclusion of all swimming events.
