Rafael Munoz and Robbie Renwick dominate in Glasgow: Day four - 2011 Scottish Nationals
Rafael Munoz and Robbie Renwick stamped their class with dominating swims on day four of the 2011 Scottish Nationals in Glasgow, Scotland, on Sunday, July 3.
Munoz captured the Men’s 100m butterfly meet with a winning time of 52.84 seconds. The performance elevated him to 18th place in the world rankings. Andrew Mayor wound up second in 53.72 seconds and Iain Macmillan earned third place honours in
54.77 seconds.
In another meet, Renwick won the Men’s 200m freestyle title with a sterling time of 1 minute and 48.17 seconds. Earlier, he posted the fastest time of 1 minute and 47.46 seconds, in June, 2011. Robert Bale earned second place honours in a time of 1 minute
and 50.16 seconds, whereas, Josh Walsh settled third in 1 minute and 50.44 seconds.
Guilherme Guido won the Men's 50m back-stroke race with a time of 25.68 seconds and Juan Miguel Rando wound up second in 25.85 seconds. Craig McNally grabbed third spot in 26.12 seconds.
The Men’s 400m Individual Medley crown was nabbed by Lewis Smith in 4 minutes and 20.42 seconds, while Taki Mrabet earned the silver medal in 4 minutes and 27.68 seconds. Ross Muir captured bronze in 4 minutes and 30.12 seconds.
In the Women’s 100m freestyle meet, Maria Fuster earned first place honours with a time of 55.76 seconds. Jessica Sylvester was placed second in 56.66 seconds, while Georgina Heyn wound up third in 57.07 seconds.
Emma Bird won the Women's 200 breast-stroke title with a victorious time of 2 minutes and 32.57 seconds. Sarra Lajnef finished second in 2 minutes and 33.27 seconds, whereas, Kerry Buchan settled third in a time of 2 minutes and 34.01 seconds.
Mercedes Peris snatched the Women’s 50m butterfly meet with a winning time of 28.17 seconds, while Lauren Averell was placed second in 28.47 seconds. The third place went to Judit Ignacio in 28.64 seconds.
The Women's 1500m freestyle crown was secured by Claudia Dasca in a sterling time of 16 minutes and 25.49 seconds. Megan Gilchrist stood second in 16 minutes and 28.88 seconds, whereas, Aisha Thornton earned bronze in a time of 16 minutes and 41.35 seconds.
