Rafael Nadal, “I was a bit more tired at ATP World Tour Finals” – Tennis News
World No.2, Rafael Nadal, faced an early exit from the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals and French Jo-Wilfried Tsonga took his place in the semi-finals after defeating the Spaniard in a close three set eye-startling encounter.
Spaniard was disappointed on his loss and depicted that he was not playing with the same enthusiasm as he used to play with in previous tournaments. He hurt his shoulder earlier in the season and was in suffering with severe stomach
ache during the match against Mardy Fish as well.
He flew back to his hometown earlier than expected and while talking to the local media representatives; Spanish No.1 said “I had little bit less passion for the game probably because I was a little bit more tired than usual.”
Rafael Nadal has been consistently performing throughout the year and reached almost all finals of major tournament but World No.1, Novak Djokovic, stood in his way as many as six times and deprived him of defending his six last
year championships including the two Grand Slams, US Open and Wimbledon.
Spaniard has not won any title since his triumph in Roland Garros French Open earlier this year and his form has taken a severe dip courtesy to some hectic schedule and shoulder injury. 25-year-old, Rafael Nadal, couldn’t dethrone
the Serbian World No.1, Novak Djokovic, this year, and failed to reclaim his number one spot in the ATP world rankings.
He didn’t played any professional tournament for past five weeks prior to the start of year-end finale in London but his break from the world of tennis proved negative as he couldn’t find his supreme touch. He further added “This
year was a tough year for me. It was positive for some moments, but at the same time was hard for other moments. I have to accept what happened during the whole season.”
Spaniard said “Over the holidays, better not think about them, because there will be. Although neither the need, I need to work, and that's what I do.”
He still has one tournament left before his seasons ends; it’s the Davis Cup final tie that will take place in Seville, Spain. He is leading his country’s team to that finale and is expected to explore his majestic form to outclass
the Argentine team and win the fifth Davis Cup title for Spain. If he manages to pull up this victory it will be a satisfying end to a frustrating year for the Spaniard.
