Rafael Nadal: Only one of his kind – Tennis Special
World number three, Rafael Nadal, will not feature in the upcoming fourth Grand Slam Championships of the season, the US Open at New York. He is still suffering from a chronic knee injury that erupted at the Wimbledon Championships
and forced him to a second round exit at the All England Lawn Tennis Club.
Nadal stated, “I am very sad to announce that I am not ready to play the US Open in NY; thanks to my fans for their support and specially, the new yorkers.”
It is definitely a bad time for a Nadal fan. He is out of action for almost two months now and he will not be seen in action for another month at least. Is it something to be worried about because the fear of knee halting his career
is born.
The haters of the Spanish hero are extremely delighted to see their prediction getting true at the age of 26. Will Nadal ever be as good as he was? Will he be able to fight the chronic injury that he has carried since the age of
14 and manage to climb up to the number one ranking in the world? Will he be fit to return for any tournament for the rest of the season? All these questions are aired; some are positive about the recovery whilst others think that the season for the Spanish
number one is over.
I don’t know why it feels like the season for Nadal is yet to take a u-turn and he will be back in action after the end of the US Open. It might sound stupid to some but I have followed the Spanish player for almost a decade and
this man never gives up; not at any stage of the game. He will definitely rise and fight the injury; play through it and show those superhuman skills that no one possesses in the world of tennis.
I miss those banana shots that seem to land wide all the time in the air but out of nowhere, the balls swings in and hits just the inside of the sidelines. It is definitely an art that no one possesses at the moment. He is the
only one who can curl the back in with those tight angles with such accuracy and precision. He is a warrior; a Spartan who will never stop doing what he does best; keep the ball in the play no matter what happens to his knee.
I hope he recovers as soon as possible and gives his opponents the toughest time they could every have at the pitch. The King of Clay is bound to make a return for the love of game and the support of his fans. Come on Rafa, you
got to be back for us who love you; for the love of game.
Vamos Rafa! Get well soon and God Speed! May the Lord help you in every walk of life!
