Rafael Nadal admires Dortmund but wants Real Madrid to win the Champions League trophy – Tennis News
Former world number one, Rafael Nadal, started his childhood career as the football striker for his division but couldn’t continue the sport because he chose to play tennis. However, the genes of football are still enriched in
the 26-year-old Spaniard who is geared up to support his favourite team Real Madrid for the Champions League glory.
The Spanish tennis professional admitted the whole-hearted effort of Dortmund who is drawn to play Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-final. He stated, “They (Dortmund) are really good. I like their rapid style, and I really
admire (attacking midfielder) Marco Reus.”
He further added, “The four best teams are in the semi-finals, anything can happen, it could all come down to the details.” The other two teams that have qualified for the Champions League semi-final stage are the Spanish Laliga
leaders, FC Barcelona, and the German Bundesliga toppers, Bayern Munich. Both these teams will contest against one another for the spot in the grand finale which will be contested at the International Stadium of England, Wembley.
Talking about the best players in the world, Nadal was questioned about who he thinks to be the better player, Ronaldo or Messi. While responding to such a tricky question, he confessed, “It's impossible to say. But one thing is
certain, we're lucky to have these two champions in our league and putting on a show for us each week.”
Nadal will be supporting Real Madrid for the Champions League triumph. It is his favourite team and he visits Santiago Bernabeu to witness his favourite team play at the home ground. Nadal is currently ranked at the fifth spot
in the Association of Tennis Professional rankings list. However, he enters the Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters tournament as the player to beat; seeded third in the event, he will follow the likes of the reigning world number one, Novak Djokovic, and the London
Olympics Gold Medallist, Andy Murray, who is the second seeded player in the event.
The 26-year-old Spaniard has won the Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters title for the record eight consecutive times and this will be his ninth triumph if he manages to capture the glory this month.
