Rafael Nadal and David Ferrer will play an exhibition match in Mexico next year – Tennis News
International Marketing Latin America (Imlah) initially planned a ‘gigantic encounter’ between the two top rated classy Spanish tennis icons, Rafael Nadal and David Ferrer. Company had previously promised to contest this match but recently they have decided
to abandon this exhibition match due to lack of availability of sponsors. Colombian Director of the company, Manuel Mate, aired this news with a great bit of disappointment and left Spanish tennis fanatics dejected and disheartened.
Director proclaimed that he was not able to collect enough sponsorship for the event to make sure it was contested in world class arena with 5-star facilities for the spectators and participants. It was a major setback for the viewers as they were eagerly
waiting to see the top two ranked Spanish tennis superstars battle it out and entertain them with their marvellous shot making abilities.
Manuel Mate said “We talked with several companies to enable the party in December, but most had told us that the year-end budget committed and that its resources were allocated for 2012”. World No.2, Rafael Nadal, met his arch rival World No.1, Novak Djokovic,
to play an exhibition match courtesy the company’s director who organised their match in Colombo.
Company’s director and his fellow organisers were in no mood to take any sort of risk that will dismantle the image of the organisation if anything goes wrong and they will have to pay huge cost for taking such immature step.
Organisers have decided to move the tournament next year to Mexico and it will be contested within the first six months. Final date has not been decided yet but it will be announced as soon as the sponsors are arranged. Colombian Director said “I was over
the end of the year, was not good date. Company’s supporters told us if we consider the event in 2012. We have to start from scratch, but we hope to build on the work we had done. These projects work best with longer”.
World No.2, Rafael Nadal, has good memories with Mexico and was looking ahead to play the contest over there. Acapulco is so close to his heart and he can’t miss any opportunity to play there. He proposed it to the organisers to hold the match in the next
six months because he wanted to visit Mexico and play there in 2012 and this will be his best opportunity to fulfil his dream.
