  1. I think Nadal and Sampras because nadal is king of clay court

  2. borg-fed.

although fed rarely won a clay court tourney, he definitely one of good clay court player. he rarely lose to other players except nadal. in my opinion, fed is 2nd best clay court player right now.

i don't think sampras is as good as fed in clay.

so even with nadal, federer and borg will wins.

  3. fedrer n borg.

  4. Borg - Federer would win

Borg and Nadal would be equals on clay. Both were the greatest clay court players of their time.

Federer is a much much much better clay court player than Sampras ever was. Federer has reached 3 French finals which is a remarkable feat and Sampras none.

    So Federer - Borg win

  5. It would be close, Pete did not care for clay. I have not seen Federer play doubles so I cannot say much about him in doubles. Borg played rather well on dirt (or as the French say: clay). Assuming that each was at their peak? I would still take Sampras and Nadal.

  6. Nadal & Sampras. Both are better on clay & they are younger.

  7. Double play is much different with singles play. You should have a remarkable net game and quick reflexes. In this case I go for federer and borg because they have good net game. As for nadal he is a baseliner and rarely goes to the net. But he is improving.

  8. nadal , sampras

  9. What a fun thought!  That would be the match of the century...my vote would be for Pete and Rafa....my two most favorite players! (for all the reasons below)

Anyone know their agents name and number?  Someone needs to start working on this matchup!!!!!!

  10. Rafa could win it alone :-P

  11. nadal and sampras

  12. I agree with Tennis Fan.

Borg and Nadal are comparable clay court players.

Federer is much better than Sampras was on clay courts.

I would go with Federer and Borg.

But then again... Nadal is so fast ("run like a rabbit" LOL).  He could probably ditch Sampras and take on Federer and Borg all by himself.  :)

  13. Great question. My answer: Nadal and Sampras hands down.

I think people underestimate Sampras on clay. He's beaten some great claycourters and won some big matches on clay. His problem was he couldn't put together 7 matches on clay to win the French Open.

Besides that just imagine having one of the greatest volleyers of all time playing the net and one of the speediest guys playing the back court. That's a recipe for success.

Part of Sampras' problem was his heavy shots come back on clay and he couldn't cover the court quick enough. That wouldn't be a problem with speedy Nadal on his team.

I could see Nadal with his lefty spin  picking on the Federer or Borg backhand to give Sampras a floater to put away.

If you look at their individual games (Sampras with his great reflexes and Nadal with his speed)  and not their last name you could see that Sampras and Nadal is a winning combination.

  14. Rafael Nadal and Pete Sampras : ) for sure !

  15. Nadal Sampras would win as a doubles team.  Baseline covered by Nadal would be evenly matched by Borg (I'm assuming we're talking about all 4 players at their prime).  Federer would not be as good at Sampras in front of the net though.  Sampras' volleying is much stronger.  I think Sampras Nadal complement each other better than Federer Borg would.
