Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer will rekindle their rivalry in 2013 – Tennis News
King of clay, Rafael Nadal, will return to the courts of competitive tennis at the Mubadala World Tennis Championship held at the Zayed Sports City. He will face the winner of the match between Andy Murray and Tomas Berdych. However,
his comeback will definitely stimulate the rivalry with the living tennis legend, Roger Federer.
Due to his increasing age, Federer’s performance was average at the start of 2012. He was unable to contest until the final round as he faced a great deal of pressure by the hands of rising tennis players, such as Novak Djokovic
and Andy Murray. However, the Swiss professional completely shocked his audience when he capitalized on the Wimbledon title and become the world number one.
The left-hander Spanish contender has been unlucky ever since the start of the Wimbledon Championships. He faced five-set surprising defeat by the Czech underdog, Lukas Rosol, in the second round. After that point, Nadal was unable
to defend his gold medal at 2012 London Olympics. His absence created a great room for other talented competitors to take the front stage.
The 26-year-old professional believes that he will face a tough time at the start of the new season and might not be able to play to best of his abilities. In a post match interview, Nadal told the media, “I want to be 100% in
Monte Carlo and then prepare well for Roland Garros. I will hopefully be ready for Australia but I am only looking at tomorrow and continuing my recovery. I have the goal of returning in Abu Dhabi but neither Abu Dhabi nor Australia are the end of the world
for me. I will only come back when I am fit. I won't come back worrying about my knee.”
The Spanish challenger has a more imposing action plan on his rival and it seems impossible for Federer to nudge past in this age. Nadal has a strong grip and an excellent foot work, securing 17-9 winning record streak over the
Swiss.
The 2013 will surely proved the tennis fans with thrilling matches between the Big Four. The Swiss professional has ruled over the competitive tennis courts for two generations and will unquestionably be one of the greatest challenges
to subdue.
