Rafael Nadal and Serena Williams are favourites for the Wimbledon title – Tennis Special

World number four, Andy Murray, was just able to grab 12/1 odds with Stan James to end his miserable run at the Grand Slam Championships at Wimbledon next month. He is already having a pathetic season so far and his performance
is possibly not deserving of a Grand Slam title anytime soon. The Scot tennis ace is pumped up to shut down his critics by winning the major title at his home town but even the familiar conditions and home crowd won’t help the cause of the fourth ranked Briton
because he needs to perform to attain victories; only prayers can’t do anything.
Defending champion from Serbia, Novak Djokovic, had a fantastic season so far. However, it is relatively slower than her last season triumphs but still good enough to earn him 7/4 odds. He is expected to retain his title at the
grass court of Wimbledon and deny the two arch rivals, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer, of the number one spot. It is going to be an enthralling battle between the triangular rivalries that has rocked the world for over a decade.
Seven-time French Open Champion, Rafael Nadal, is chosen to have better odds than the defending champion. He is 5/2 to grab another Wimbledon title and second Grand Slam Championship on the trot. He ended runners up in the previous
edition of this tournament so if Djokovic loses in the quarter-finals or less and Nadal grabs the title, the Spaniard will top the world rankings once again. However, it is highly unlikely considering the enthusiasm of the Serb who is willing to power down
his rivals on all platforms.
Swiss Maestro, Roger Federer, is 11/2 to win a title at grass court. However, if it rains in Wimbledon, his chances will enhance as the tournament will be an indoor event and Federer is invincible in those conditions. He lost in
the quarter-finals of Wimbledon last year; so, if the Swiss wins the title this year and Djokovic bows down in the semi-finals, he will take the top spot and once again become the ruler at the age of 30. It will definitely be a ‘dream come true’.
Rupert Adams of William Hill said, “Another Nadal-versus-Djokovic decider would be nice and we are 6/4 that occurs.” Not too much drama is expected and the scripted play by the three top seeds is expected. Federer might bow down
in the earlier stages but Nadal and Djokovic are expected to reach the semi-finals stage at least.
In the women’s category, the reigning world number one, Maria Sharapova, is 11/4 to win a second Grand Slam Championship on the trot having won the Roland Garros French Open earlier this month. It is probably to the fact that she
is not as influential on grass court as on other surfaces. However, her form is truly emphatic and she can easily pin-up another major title. Serena Williams is 3/1 to grab the title. It is an astonishing odd considering her first round exit in the French
Open. Petra Kvitova is 13/2 to win the title. Surprisingly, no one believes that Victoria Azarenka can repeat the heroics of the Australian Open again in Wimbledon.
Adams further added, “Sharapova won the French Open and it is a case of trying to catch the Russian now. Everyone else seems to be out of form and we expect her price to shorten." It is going to be an enthralling Grand Slam Championship
to say the least.
