Rafael Nadal and Sergio Ramos send message of support to Tito Vilanova – Tennis News
Spanish top ranked tennis star, Rafael Nadal, and Real Madrid’s defender Sergio Ramos, sent their message of support to Barcelona’s coach, Tito Vilanova, who was recently diagnosed with cancer.
The Spanish tennis star Nadal, who is out of action for last six month with an injury, sent his get well soon wishes for the Barcelona boss. Ramos on the other hand also sent similar message of support to his rival’s club boss.
Surgeons removed a tumour from Vilanova’s salivary gland last year but he suffered setback of cancer again. As a result, he will undergo from operation immediately and needs to rest.
His team is currently leading the La Liga table with a nine-point difference from second placed Atletico Madrid team. Mustering their season performance further, Barcelona are currently unbeaten and dominating Spain.
"All my strength and support to Tito Vilanova. We are with you to overcome this," the former world number one Nadal, who will make a comeback at the Mubadala World Tennis Championships in Abu Dhabi next week, commented.
Ramos also stated, "Lots of support to Tito Vilanova. We're all one footballing family. Hugs from the bottom of my heart."
With Vilanova’s absence, his assistant Jordi Roura will be in charge of the Catalan Giants. His team’s performance will be affected with his absence but all players have sent their message of support to him.
His team’s arch-rival, Real Madrid, have also wished Vilanova well in a press conference. The officials stated after looking at Vilanova’s condition,
"Real Madrid wishes to express all its support, love and affection for Barcelona's coach Tito Vilanova, to whom it wishes a quick recovery. Real Madrid extends this support to his club and all his family."
Vilanova took charge of Barcelona this April when his comrade, Pep Guardiola, departed from the club. He had an operation on his parotid gland on November last year and returned to work after 15 days.
The 44-year-old led Barcelona to their best start of the season in La Liga’s history. His team have 15 victories and drawn one after playing 16 matches. Lionel Messi has played a vital role in these victories after jolting down spectacular 90 goals in a calendar year.
