Rafael Nadal denies any rumours about his non-participation in Indian Wells – Tennis News
Spanish media reporters aired the news that the former world number one, Rafael Nadal, will not take part in the upcoming competition at Indian Wells. However, the 26-year-old Spaniard has cleared the air by confessing that he
is pumped up to take part in the event and all the rumours gathering momentum about his non-participation is incorrect. Nadal has returned from a chronic knee injury after a gap of almost 7-8 months so he is bound to face some difficulty at the courts due
to the lack of momentum.
He was talking the local media reporters after his conquest at Acapulco where he defeated Sebastian Schwartzman in straight sets 6-2, 6-2 to begin the tournament campaign. He stated, “These media companies cannot know more than
me. My day-to-day objective is to recuperate the knee until it gets back to 100 percent and I am able to return to competing and full training as quickly as possible. If this happens then the objectives are the same as they have always been. If I don't recover,
we will accept it and deal with it calmly and continue being positive. We will continue working so that when I am fine I can return to competing at the highest level in a short space of time.”
Moreover, the fifth ranked Spaniard understand the seven months at the sidelines will definitely decrease the momentum, speed and concentration levels but he confessed that these factors can only be overcome by constant participation
in the tournaments. The knee pain hasn’t ended yet but the 11-time Grand Slam Champion is feeling better with every official victory under his belt. He won the Brasil Open in the past week to get off the mark in the 2013 season. He is looking to repeat a similar
performance at Acapulco despite a sterner contest with the inclusion of his compatriot, David Ferrer, who is the defending champion and looks in a sublime run of form.
Nadal has aimed for full fitness before the commencement of his title defence at the Roland Garros French Open which will start in the month of May at Paris.
