Rafael Nadal dreams of an unbeaten return at the Abu Dhabi on his comeback – Tennis News

World number four, Rafael Nadal, is working extremely hard to be fully fit before the start of the Mubadala World Tennis Championships, beginning in the last week of December. The tournament will be contested at the hard courts
of Abu Dhabi and has confirmed the participation of the comeback hero, Nadal, who is the two time Champion at the arena.
Nadal stated, “I won the Mubadala World Tennis Championship in 2010 and 2011; would love to get my hands on the trophy again this year. Want to win again!”
It will be a special moment for the Spaniard to be back in action after such a major injury layoff. He might be drawn against his Olympics successor, Andy Murray, who toppled the Swiss Maestro, Roger Federer, in the final to claim
the Gold Medal this year. The other possibility is the ninth ranked Serb star, Janko Tipsarevic, who replaced him in the Top-8 field at the year-end finale.
The 26-year-old Spaniard hasn’t featured in any professional contest ever since his shocking exit at the second round of the Wimbledon Championships. In June, the 11-time Grand Slam Champion locked horns against the Czech underdog,
Lukas Rosol, and contested an enthralling five-setter which in-turn stressed his left-knee and injured it severely enough to keep him out of action to date.
Nadal couldn’t defend his Gold Medal at the London Olympics; had to forgo a prestigious opportunity of carrying his country’s flag at the opening ceremony of the four-yearly event at London. It was a heart-breaking time for the
Spanish hero but he stayed firm and worked extremely hard on his recovery.
In the process of rehabilitation, Nadal also missed out the year’s fourth Grand Slam event, the US Open, at New York. He didn’t take part in any event on the tour of Asia and had to skip one of the most esteemed events, the Barclays
Association of the Tennis Professionals World Tour Finals, contested at the hard courts of O2 Arena in London.
After such a terrible latter half of the season, a successful comeback at Abu Dhabi will definitely help the Spaniard to accumulate confidence and gain some rhythm.
