Rafael Nadal faces his first stern test at Indian Wells after his comeback – Tennis News
Indian Wells tournament is just around the corner and it will be the first major stern test for the former world number one, Rafael Nadal, who is returning into rhythm after coming back from an eight-month injury layoff. He has
won two tournaments on his comeback but none of them featured the likes of the Top-3 players, Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and Andy Murray.
However, he did beat the fourth ranked David Ferrer in the final of Acapulco last week which must have given him a lot of confidence. He will be playing amongst the three big guns of tennis again at Indian Wells and the fans all
across the globe are eager to witness the left-handed Spaniard in action against arch rivals after a long wait.
Nadal appeared in an interview that followed the exhibition contest at New York in which the Spaniard took part. He stated, “All I can do is all the right things to be ready. I really hope that the knee will go well. I don't know
how well, but the knee will give me the chance to compete. I know the knee isn't 100 percent better yet, but if it is now well to be competitive, to run with no limitations or limitations on my movements, that's a lot. That happened last week in Acapulco for
the first week and that's going to give me a lot of positive feelings and confidence in myself.”
The Olympics Bronze Medallist, Juan Martin Del Potro, stated the 26-year-old Spaniard will soon be contesting for the top spot in the world rankings and also confessed, “We are so blessed to see him playing again.”
It is good to know that the Spaniard is receiving a warm welcome back to the tennis courts. However, it is crucial to remember that the game style of Nadal has definitely deteriorated due to the lack of match fitness over the course
of months. He is targeting to be fit until the start of the Roland Garros French Open which will began in May. Therefore, the hopes ‘Rafa fans’ shouldn’t be kept too high at the moment.
