Rafael Nadal is the most familiar face in Spain – Tennis News
Amazing statistics for the third ranked tennis professional from Spain, Rafael Nadal, were concluded by the Marketing Consulting Company, Personality Media. They conducted a survey about the famous personality amongst the general
public of Spain and found out that the seven-time French Open Champion, Rafael Nadal, was the most popular figure.
The total population that was encompassed by the study of the company included 40,000 Spanish respondents/consumers. They were given 1900 different options to choose from and knowing that the Spanish team is the best team in the
world, it was expected that one of the football players will lead the choice of the consumers but drastic results were achieved that declared the most followed sport in Spain to be lawn tennis.
The list of top ten players that were mostly chosen by the respondents included;
1) Rafael Nadal
2) NBA Lakers forward Pau Gasol
3) Football Club Barcelona’s midfielder Andrés Iniesta
4) Actor Paco León
5) Retired cyclist Miguel Induráin
6) Football Club Barcelona’s midfielder Xavi Hernández
7) Football Club Barcelona’s coach Pep Guardiola
8) Football coach Vicente del Bosque
9) Real Madrid Football Club’s goalkeeper Iker Casillas
10) Sports journalist Matías Prats
It was not a strange statistic that there were six athletes in the list. Spain is known for their supreme tennis players and footballers. So, it was an obvious result. However, seeing Nadal the only tennis player and still topping
the list of Top-10 famous people was very strange. There was no single woman amongst the Top-10 people so apparently Shakira has lost her charm amongst the general public.
Nadal, who recently witnessed a terrible defeat at the hands of the Czech professional, Lukas Rosol, in the second round of the Wimbledon Championships, is on vacations and waiting for her knee to recover before he will begin practicing
for another campaign at Wimbledon but this time for the gold medal defence at Olympics. It will be a mesmerizing experience for all tennis fanatics and especially Spanish people if their hero manages to retain his title as a gold medallist in London Olympics;
last time he won at Beijing in 2008.
