Rafael Nadal ousts Guillermo Garcia in second round – Shanghai Rolex Masters 2011
Rafael Nadal, world No.2 and the top seeded for Shanghai Rolex Masters 2011, took out compatriot Guillermo Garcia, world No.53, in straight sets 6-3, 6-2, on Wednesday, 12th October, in an hour and 45 minutes to make
his way into the third round.
Playing at the Qizhong Forest Sports City Arena, Shanghai, China, hard court the fixture was more like a practice session for the top ranked Spaniard as he bombarded the 28-year-old with crazy shots making him run all over the
court.
Walking down the blue circuit the mighty Spaniard, world No.2 and the top seed, was greeted with a mighty cheer from the stands. Undoubtedly the favourite for the tie and the ATP Masters 1000 event, Nadal won the toss and served
first for the opener.
Serving out game 1, the Spaniard rolled down the scoreboard to winning the first game, 1-0. Compatriot, Garcia, struggled through game 2 and levelled up the scores, 1-1, saving a breakpoint. With the game worming up, the left-hander
pulled off another game before striking again, 2-1.
Breaking Garcia early in game 4, Nadal extended his lead to 3-1 and served next. Bagging the fifth game, the top seed rushed away to a 3 games lead and stood to return, 4-1. Garcia, well below in ranking, served out his second
win of the match to cut the lead to 2-4.
However, the 28-year-old world No.53 could not break back to cut down the lead any more. Two games left to conquer the first set, Nadal served out two out of the next three games clinching the first set 6-3, and off to the next.
Moving on with the second, Garcia opened up this time and followed up with a close win, 1-0. The 25-year-old levelled up instantly, 1-1, and switched back the serve. Garcia served next; however, the top seed overpowered the world
No.53 and broke to lead the set 2-1.
The 28-year-old surprisingly broke back levelling up the scores at 2-2, yet could not hold on next and dropped down again losing a break point, 2-3. Serving out his serve, Nadal continued to pull off game winners extending his
lead to 4-2.

third round of the 2011 Shanghai Rolex Masters 2011.
Through to the next stage, the king of clay will now face the enchanting German, Florian Mayer, to battle it out for a spot in the quarterfinals.
