Rafael Nadal plans to rest two weeks to recover from a chronic knee injury – Tennis News
World number two, Rafael Nadal, is suffering from a chronic knee injury again. He is not practicing at all these days and taking rest that is expected to last a couple of weeks. The severe tendinitis in the knee of the Spaniard
has been bothering him since he was just 14-year-old. It has been a dilemma that is yet to be resolved and despite several treatments, the injury seems to stay intact for the entire professional career of the Seven-time French Open Champion.
Talking to the local media representatives, the Spanish tennis icon stated, “The doctors have been checking my knee and I suffer a tendinitis which will have me away from any practice or matches for 15 days, which makes it impossible
to play with Novak Djokovic as we'd expected and announced.”
He further added, “I was with my doctors on Monday and started already my treatment with the goal to be ready for the London Olympic Games and represent Spain once again. I will now work on my rehab as well as taking some short
holidays to resume my practice in 15 days." He plans to stop practicing for a short period of time just to make sure that he recovers before the gold medal defence at London Olympics, later this month.
He has issued a 15 days ultimatum to be fit again and back to training sessions. Every tennis fanatic hopes for his speedy recovery because the second grass court mega tournament without seeing Nadal amongst the last four players
will be a major loss to the world of tennis. He was ousted in the second round of the Wimbledon Championships by the Czech underdog, Lukas Rosol, and no tennis fan would like to see his back again early in Olympics as well.
Nadal won the gold medal at Olympics in 2008 in Beijing. It was a massive moment for the young lad who turned 26 in June. He is a fascinating character to watch at the courts and his presence with 100% fitness will be a treat for
tennis fans at London Olympics.
