Rafael Nadal puts sight on the eighth straight title in Monte Carlo – Tennis News
World number two, Rafael Nadal, has been facing knee-injury concerns in the recent past. However, he has started training for the clay court season and will be back in action soon. He aims to win the title at Monte Carlo Masters
for the eighth straight time. It will be a monumental achievement if he manages to pull of such a miracle especially when he is not fully fit to play.
He will be accompanied by the likes of Serb world number one, Novak Djokovic, who will be the top seed contestant in the field with the Spaniard being the second seed player. The king of clay has owned this tournament for a long
period of time and looks to reign supreme over anyone who will stand in his way.
In an interview, he stated, “It is painful and I have to stand it for a week but it works. I know I have to in order to recover faster.” His knee has been troubling him ever since he was just 14-year-old. His doctor told the media
representatives that the superhuman Spaniard puts a lot of pressure on his left knee while playing. He has a lightening quick pace but in order to put breaks while moving at such a high speed is adjacent to ‘violent pressure’ on the knees that takes the life
out of them.
The six-time French Open champion, Nadal, will look to register to a clean sweep for the eight consecutive years in Monte Carlo. He might be a victim of several niggling injuries but his willpower to oust anyone and everyone is
the main cause of his success to date.
An example of utmost courage and firepower was seen during this year’s Australian Open final when he grinded his body for six straight hours to dig deep into five sets and dethrone the Serb. However, he wasn’t lucky to beat the
deserving number one but still, it takes a lot of toll on the body to keep fighting in such a lengthy marathon in the field of tennis.
If Nadal can see off the Serb, he will still have to look after the legendary Swiss Maestro, Roger Federer, and the big booming number one Briton, Andy Murray, as well. These two players have been contesting the semi-finals of
most of the tournaments and look threatening whenever they get going. It will be a tough start for the Spaniard but he will make sure he keeps his crown intact.
