Rafael Nadal registers the best clay season of his career – Tennis News

Seven-time French Open champion, Rafael Nadal, has once again proved to the world that he is invincible on the clay court and the territory of Paris can’t be taken away from him at least for foreseeable future.
The legendary tennis icon from Spain was filled with delighted after he conquered the red clay court of Paris for the seventh time in last eight years; becoming the only player in the world of tennis to put his hands on the trophy
for seven times in a professional career. He takes his overall Grand Slam titles tally to 11 and holds an emphatic record of 52-1 at Roland Garros.
After holding on to the title for the third straight year, Nadal stated, “I don’t like talking about the tournament. I like to talk about the whole clay season and this was probably my best on clay. I won three tournaments and
made it to the final of the fourth tournament before I lost my first set. There was a lot of emotion because you don’t know if you will ever win another victory. You don’t know if this year is going to be the last one. I achieved it this year, but as time
goes by, you give more value to those very precious moments.”
Tears rolled down his face when he saw the Serb world number one, Novak Djokovic, darting the second serve outside the prescribed bounds of the court and committing the double fault that proved to be the final action of the championship
on the eve of Monday. The match started on Sunday but was postponed due to rain. So, Nadal had to wait another night before he could celebrate yet another record of his legendary career. No one has ever seen such level of dominance on clay court by any player
for a couple of decades. He came to Paris with a title under his belt; winning the Italian Open in Rome and extended his winning streak to 21 matches.
The clay court season might be over but the achievements of the Spanish superhuman will be remembered for the next whole year until he returns back to his throne to defend it from the invasion from his arch rivals. He is a player
who has got everything in his titles rack; career Slam and Olympics gold medal as well. It’s a dream career a tennis professional can ever imagine.
