Rafael Nadal returns to courts after a short knee-injury layoff – Tennis News
Spanish number one, Rafael Nadal, has fully recovered from the knee injury and started his training this week for an emphatic clay court season this year. He is the defending champion of the French Open, the only Grand Slam tournament
that is played on red dirt. World number two was advised by his medics to have rest until the knee is fully recovered.
The new update on Nadal’s page stated the he was back to the tennis court training and will participate in the upcoming tournament in Madrid and Rome. The update further added, “Yesterday (Wednesday), I started to train on clay
at the Manacor tennis club (in Mallorca), to prepare myself for the Monte-Carlo and Barcelona tournaments."
Nadal’s knee doctor was also contacted by the media representatives to understand the real problem with his chronic knee injury that has been troubling him ever since he has stepped into the professional tennis circuit. Doctor
Angel Ruiz Cotorro has been with the King of Clay, ever since, he was just 14-year-old.
In his auto-biography, Nadal stated about his doctor, “He’s been by my side during the really tough injuries I’ve had to endure, providing not just wise medical advice but also the reassurance I’ve needed to keep fighting, encouraging
me to believe in my powers of recovery. He is always available to me, wherever in the world I might be, responding to emergencies large or small.”
The Spaniard’s surgeon who treated his knee is Doctor Mikel Sanchez. In an interview to a local Spanish newspaper, Marca, the surgeon stated that the main problem with this youngster is that he puts a lot of pressure on his knee.
The exact terms used by the surgeon were ‘violent stress’ that shows that Nadal has been grinding his body especially his knee throughout his career. He runs across the court from one corner to another and then puts on breaks at regular intervals that result
in knee injury.
However, the good news is that he is back in action and looks to nail down every player in the world on his favourite surface. It will once again be the fight for the Grand Slam title and top three players in the world, Novak Djokovic,
Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer, will be aiming to bag yet another Grand Slam title in their collection. Nadal is the favourite only if he stays 100% fit for the entire tournament.
