Rafael Nadal returns to practice court after a major injury layoff – Tennis News
It was a pleasant sight to witness the former world number one, Rafael Nadal, picking up the racket and hitting the practice courts after a five month injury layoff. On Tuesday, Nadal updated his official facebook page’s status
“Today my first tennis practice after all these weeks; getting better and hope to continue with the positive trend.” He also added the picture that featured him and his uncle-c*m Coach Toni Nadal.
World number four, Nadal, will look to occupy the courts once again when he makes an official comeback to the tennis circuit in the year’s first Grand Slam Championship, the Australian Open, next year. However, the spectators were
eager to witness the Spanish hero back for the Barclays Association of Tennis Professionals World Tour Finals but it wasn’t possible for the left-knee of Nadal to heel back in time.
The 26-year-old Spaniard has missed everything that followed his second round exit at the Wimbledon Championships in London. He fall victim to an upset at the hands of the Czech underdog, Lukas Rosol, and never came back for any
contest to date. He missed out an opportunity to carry the flag of Spain in the opening ceremony of the London Olympics and couldn’t defend his Gold Medal that he won in Beijing, four years ago. Moreover, the Spanish hero missed the US Open Championships in
New York and the entire Asian tour. It has been tough days for the Spanish superhero.
Nadal had a knee issue ever since he entered the professional circuit of tennis. However, he carried the injury all this time and reached the height of tennis; won 11 Grand Slam titles including the record number of seven French
Open trophies. He was close on winning the second Australian Open title in January but the six-hour marathon was clinched by the reigning world number one, Novak Djokovic. No one deserved to lose the contest but one had to bow down and it was Nadal who finally
gave up in the fifth set of the match.
Let’s hope the injury leaves the left-handed workhorse forever and he returns to the courts with full force.
