Spaniard Rafael Nadal has been very critical of the fact that hectic tennis schedule has not helped his cause at all and rather depleted his stamina to play lengthy matches at ease. There are many players that are unhappy with the fact that ATP has been scheduling tournaments one after another and provide no time to rest at all. This hectic schedule is the main reason that big guns have been pulling out of tournaments due to fatigue and injuries issue.
Spectators that buy tickets to see their beloved tennis icons are deprived of their right to see them performing live in front of their eyes because there are too many injuries occurring in almost all tournaments.
Novak Djokovic recently denied participating in Shanghai Open due to back and shoulder injury. Serb participated in Basel but retired in the middle of the tournament due to his chronic injury. He made his comeback in Paris but again retired from that tournament as well. Roger Federer also pulled out Shanghai Open as well due to fatigue issues. These are clear cut evidences that players are suffering a lot from this hectic schedule.
World No.2, Rafael Nadal, said “We are the only sport we're forced to play from January 1 to December 5. Or are we together or you can’t change the situation. The changes are needed. Is a 'lockout'? The situation is now living the NBA is not obviously positive and is a last resort and not thinks it will ever reach the courts because it does not interest any of the stakeholders. We are doomed to understand. In any negotiation can’t leave everyone happy, but we must try to out at least unhappy as possible”.
Nadal has left for London to play ATP World Tour Finals and is in the hunt for his fourth title of the year. The tournament starts on Sunday, November 20th.
