Rafael Nadal’s $370,000 watch stolen from hotel – Tennis News
King of Clay, Rafael Nadal’s luxury watch was stolen from hotel in Paris after he conquered the top seeded Novak Djokovic for his seventh Roland Garros title on Monday.
The Spanish top wore the $370,000 (300,000 Euros) watch when he toppled the world number one Djokovic in a four-set thriller at the final showdown of this prestigious clay court event. However, the following day when he woke up, Nadal’s watch went missing
from his room in a hotel in Paris's upscale eighth arrondissement.
The Spanish star, Nadal’s parents were also living in that hotel and they noticed the watch, which was on loan from Richard Mille, went missing. The luxury watchmaker, Mille, loaned this extravagant watch for the French Open, second of the four Grand Slam
events held in a span of two weeks in Paris. After watching this, Nadal’s parent filed a stolen watch report.
"Nobody broke into the hotel room," the Police source was quoted in a press conference.
Nadal broke a tie with Bjorn Borg’s six French Open titles after stealing the final show. He became the first person to lift seventh titles at this Grand Slam event.
The left-handed Spaniard was quoted in post-match interview on his memorable day on Monday, "For me, it is a real emotional day, winning another time here. Sure, the seventh is important because I am the player who has more today, but like I said yesterday:
that's after. For me, the important thing is to win Roland Garros even if it's the first, second, third, or seventh [time]. That's what makes me very happy. [I'm] very happy [with] the way that I played today, because I played much more aggressive."
Ranked second in the South African Airways ATP World Tour Rankings, Nadal is unbeaten on red clay surface and this was his fourth title on dirt this circuit. He stunned the Serbian ace, Djokovic, in straight sets at the title-rounds of Monte-Carlo Rolex
Masters and Internazionali BNL D’Italia before encountering him again at the French Open. Nadal also triumphed over his compatriot, David Ferrer, in straight sets at the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell, an ATP World Tour 500 series event.
