Rafael Nadal’s injury lay-off extends even further – Tennis News
Tennis courts still await the comeback of the King of Clay, Rafael Nadal, who is still sidelined from professional tennis circuit due to injury. It is his same knee which is troubling him since the very first day of his tennis
career and the Spaniard is battling hard to recover from his unrelenting injury at the moment.
Nadal’s intense style of playing tennis has always brought him trouble and he has been continuously struggling to sustain his fitness in the past few seasons. The way he pursues every single shot from his opponent, grinding his
body all the way and running miles to save a possible winner, has made his problem even worse at this age. The Spanish number one is well known for his resilience and fighting spirit but his body takes a huge toll out of him while he performs wonders on the
tennis court.
It seems odd for an athlete of his class to incur such injuries that often but that is something Nadal knew he would suffer one day. According to the doctors, he wasn’t supposed to play tennis forever in his life because his injury-prone
knee could cause serious troubles for him. The determined Spaniard chose to play tennis and has achieved so much in this particular sport that rarely anyone can match him in the coming future.
Nadal was having a decent run in the 2012 ATP season until he had to take a lay-off due to injury. Although not playing at his best, the King of Clay won yet another Roland Garros French Open crown to add another trophy to his
Grand Slam tally. He went on to play the coveted Wimbledon Championships in England but his sore knee didn’t allow him to carry on his winning impetus on the grass courts. Nadal miserably fell to the Polish underdog, Lukas Rosol, in the second round of the
mega event. It has to be the last match he played on 2012 circuit and spent the rest of the season in agony.
No one thought that Nadal has incurred such serious injury that he won’t be able to play any tournament in the remaining circuit. His comeback to the tennis world had been anticipated pretty sooner but it seems that the Spaniard
will not be seen in action in the opening couple of months of the 2013 season. His absence from the tennis courts has created huge opportunities or other players but surely his return will be a real impactful one. It is hoped that the Spaniard will recover
to play the next Australian Open but it will not be surprise if he pulls out from the season-opening Grand Slam event.
