The Tottenham playmaker says that Spurs are very strong mentally and still in hunt for the English Premier League title as they won’t let the derby defeat bring their season down...
Rafael Van der Vaart has come out and made it clear that Tottenham won’t allow their defeat to Arsenal to inflict irreparable damage on the good work they have done in the current Premier League season. The Dutchman who has been
at the centre of Harry Redknapp’s project at Tottenham did not start against Arsenal but was introduced in the half time break just when Arsenal were beginning to assert their dominance.
The creative midfielder failed to make an impact on the match from his substitution as Arsenal usurped the two goal advantage that Spurs had in the first half and ended the match as deserving winners by five goals to two.
Van der Vaart is adamant that his team won’t let their defeat to Arsenal interfere in their chase for the Premier League title but due to their loss to the Gunners, Tottenham now find themselves behind both Manchester United and
Manchester City with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 closing in on their third place finish.
The former Real Madrid man said, "It won't be difficult to lift ourselves. Do we have the mental strength to put this behind us? Of course. It will be difficult against United but the confidence is there. This season, we have nearly
always played well at home. Yesterday was a bad day but that's all it was. Of course you always hope [for a chance at the title] but Manchester City are winning their games so easily, especially now we have lost, so maybe the title is over. Third is our main
goal now and I'm really confident we can finish there."
Harry Redknapp will hope that his team can keep up their morale and their confidence levels for their next league encounter against Manchester United, as a loss to the second placed team in the Premier League will surely put an
end to their title hopes for the 2011-2012 Premier League season.
