The Dutch playmaker says that Tottenham must sign Adebayor on a permanent basis as he has helped them greatly in the current Premier League season…
Van der Vaart has given his two bits on the situation surrounding http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Emmanuel-Adebayor-c12526 at Tottenham as the club try to sign him on a permanent basis from Manchester City. Adebayor is currently on loan at Tottenham and he has done
remarkably well at the White Hart Lane stadium as the Togolese striker has developed a fine understanding with his present team mates.
Earlier on, Harry Redknapp had revealed that Tottenham were working on securing Adebayor on a long term basis rather than just extending his loan period but there is a problem with the African striker’s wage demands at the moment.
Given Tottenham’s strict wage budget, it will be hard for them to accommodate Adebayor who is demanding around about 170k a week from the North London outfit. Certainly, Adebayor will help Tottenham greatly if he remains at White Hart Lane next season as there
is a growing possibility that the Spurs will play in next season’s UEFA Champions League.
Not only that, Adebayor is already surplus to requirements at Manchester City as they have a host of strikers vying for first team places such as Aguero, Dzeko, Balotelli and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Carlos-c8346 Tevez as well. Van der Vaart said, "He is a great
player for us, works his socks off and we love him here. He played for Real Madrid, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 and City and I was surprised he came but I hope he stays."
He added, "He is a top striker, one of the best I've played with. I played with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ruud-van-Nistelrooy-c31966, [with Real Madrid and Holland] he was fantastic. Normally strikers wait for their chances and score but he [Adebayor] is working
and even when he doesn't score he is still important for the team and that's what makes him a big man for us. Last season I had a good understanding with Crouch but with him it's even better. He is tall, strong and also is not selfish."
