The Tottenham Hotspur star does not fit in Bert van Marwijk’s starting XI at Euro 2012, and the veteran midfielder has openly expressed his disappointment on his role.
Rafael van der Vaart has confessed that he is extremely disappointed with his role, coming off the bench, and has openly expressed his frustration while aiming at the Oranje head coach, Bert van Marwijk.
The Tottenham Hotspur star, who has been plying his trade at White Hart Lane since the summer of 2010, was not in the Oranje’s starting line-up in their European Championship opener against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Denmark-c2884, but played the final 19 minutes
of the game.
Although, the Flying Dutchmen lost the match 1-0, the midfield ace is of the view that his coach will not use him in the starting line-up against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904.
“The chance that my situation will change is pretty small. It's great if you're a starter, but not so much if you're warming the bench. I have to admit that it's not an easy situation for me. Some days I feel better than others,
but I'm obviously disappointed. I always do my utmost for the team, but it has been without results so far”, Van der Vaart was quoted as saying to Voetbal International.
Nonetheless, the highly-talented midfielder has stressed that he does not intend to disrupt the Flying Dutchmen’s preparations for their upcoming group encounter against Die Mannschaft.
“I will always give 100 per cent. I don't want to disturb the group process, and will never make a mess out of it. I'm the last person to make demands. Players are not in the position to demand something. However, I feel that I
do have the right to voice my disappointment”, Van der Vaart concluded.
The 29-year-old midfielder, who has thus far donned the jersey of the Oranje in 97 matches and netted 18 goals as well, will be hoping that Van Marwijk changes his strategy for his side’s upcoming Euro clash, and name him in the
starting line-up.
