Tottenham Hotspur and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Netherlands-c753 playmaker Rafael van der Vaart has revealed manager Harry Redknapp’s future at the club is vital for determining his own future at White Hart Lane.
The English manager has just one year remaining on his current contract and Tottenham Hotspur have not yet offered him a new contract. If the situation continues as it is then Redknapp could very well be leaving White Hart Lane at the end of next season.
Van der Vaart, who himself has been linked with a Tottenham Hotspur exit in the summer transfer window; claimed Redknapp had done a fantastic http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 with the London side and deserved a new contract. The 29-year-old urged the management at the club to give Redknapp
a new contract, which would keep him at the club past next season.
Van der Vaart said in an interview:
“I think he's going to sign a new contract - I hope so - and I think it's also good for every team when they have a manager who's there for many years. So I hope he stays.”
Speaking of his own future, Van der Vaart denied rumours linking him with a move away and claimed he was happy in England. Van der Vaart has been linked with Schalke, but the player refused to comment if a move away was in the cards for him.
He revealed:
“No, I don't think so. There's always interest. But I'm happy in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 and I want to stay. In football, you never know, and that's what I wanted to say and nothing more.”
It is no secret that at Schalke, Van der Vaart will be guaranteed Champions League football, with Tottenham Hotspur failing to qualify for the European competition despite finishing in the top four.
