Rafal Hawel casts out Mateusz Swierczynski in qualification round of 2012 Polish Open
Men’s Singles shuttler Rafal Hawel is one step closer to the main draw of the Polish Open as he overpowered Mateusz Swierczynski in the second stage of qualification round on August 30, 2012.
He consumed his energy for 48 minutes as this hard work yielded a good result in the shape of 15-21, 21-13 and 21-19 margin.
He sealed a splendid 2-1 victory to setup the next clash with Dariusz Janik in third stage of qualification round of this International Series.
Meanwhile, the opposing shuttler failed to deal with Rafal’s brilliance in the game and crashed out of the home event in a disgraceful manner.
Mateusz started his campaign in perfect fashion as he clinched the opening match point with a notable difference in final margin.
Though, he had a cautious start and remained at the lower end in preliminary rallies but then few well crafted strokes boosted his confidence.
He added valuable points in his total at steady pace and caught his challenger at 7-7. He did not lose this rhythm and placed a favourable figure of 11 before interval.
After mid-game break, Rafal geared up himself and brought life back into the contest by levelling the score at 15-15.
However, Mateusz tipped the scale in his favour with five successive points and bagged first set with a staggering knock of 21-15.
The story was entirely different in the second set of the match as the suppressed shuttler of previous game showed transformed character and brought the contest to the right balance.
This time, it was Rafal’s turn to gain an early advantage and keep his competitor grounded until game point situation.
He established his grip with decent figure of 11-6 at half time and then blew his rival away with an overwhelming result of 21-13.
With this development, the decider became consequential as both contenders were standing at the same level with one win each.
They challenged each other in all areas of the game and made this segment a memorable contest by remaining close on points table.
The first half of the set ended with 11-9 score position and this cliff hanging game ended when Rafal stole the limelight with a striking knock of 21-19.
