Raffi Torres is tops amongst NHL’s Three Stars of the Week
Vancouver Canucks forward Raffi Torres’ six points have earned him the top spot amongst the National Hockey League’s Three Stars of the week for the week of 31 October to 6 November.
Torres led the league by scoring five goals and an assist during the one-week span. He had a hat trick against the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday 2 November in a game that the Canucks won
by a score of 4-3. The victory placed the Canucks at the top of the Northwestern Division standings with a record of 8-3-2 and 18 points. Their next game will be against the Montreal Canadiens in Montreal on Tuesday 9 November.
Goaltender Mathieu Garon of the Columbus Blue Jackets was named as the second star after he recorded two back-to-back shut-out victories over the Montreal Canadiens and the Atlanta Thrashers.
In his three starts, he had turned aside 75 of the 78 total shots that he faced. The Blue Jackets have had a relatively good start to their 2010-11 NHL campaign, posting a record of 8-5-0 in their first 13 games. The Blue Jackets will host the St. Louis Blues
on Wednesday 10 November.
St. Louis Blues goalie Jaroslav Halak was selected as the third star of the week after allowing only one goal on the 59 shots he faced in two starts. Since being traded to the St. Louis
Blues by the Montreal Canadiens during the summer, the Slovakian netminder has a record of 8-1-1 with a goals-against average of 1.46 and a save percentage of .944.

If Halak keeps his stellar play going, there is a strong chance he will return to the Three Stars list many more times in the near future. The Blues will travel to Columbus on Wednesday
10 November to take on the Columbus Blue Jackets.
