Question:

Raffle Donations?

I am holding a fund-raiser for Breast Cancer Research UK. I have organised the event myself, paid to get it up and running but I am seriously lacking in raffle prizes.

I am hoping to make most of the money from the raffle prizes so I need new items from businesses....only problem is, I don't know where to start!

A few people have suggested local businesses, I live in a new housing estate and there are no buisnesses. The closest ones are big chain stores like M&S, Tesco etc.

Any help is much appreciated!

  1. Actually, the big chain stores would be a really good bet since they have a variety of merchandise and they can get publicity for their donations. In order to get them behind your fundraiser you could look up their website and contact their corporate head quarters. Supply them with the reasons you are holding the fundraiser and outline the benefits of coming to your assistance, publicity, community recognition, news coverage etc. But be sure you do not go to their competition  unless they turn you down.

  2. Ask Restaurants to donate gift certificate's

  3. Other answers good. When you contact those Corp. they insist on a written request on the Organization's letterhead including the tax-exempt no.  Another alternative to businesses is seeking out other organizations such as Rotary, Sewing guilds, Scout troops and even your neighbors.

The could put together a basket of goodies, such as a home office basket filled with pens, pencils, date book, stationary and anything of that order. Another could be a birdwatching basket, cleaning supply baskets, can goods basket.  These make great fundraisers.  Good luck
