The Bayern Munich defender is aiming for a win against FC Augsburg in the upcoming Bundesliga fixture to remain on the heels of Borussia Dortmund.
The Bavarian giants have been in scintillating form of late after an indifferent start to the second-half of the campaign and have reached the semi-final of the UEFA Champions League. Jupp Heynckes’ side are currently three points
adrift of Borussia Dortmund on the league table and cannot afford to drop any more points.
Rafinha claimed that his side cannot afford any more slipups in the remaining course of the season as they need to catch Dortmund with just six games left. The defender insisted that the team needs to win the game against Augsburg
in order to go in confidence for the crucial tie against the reigning champions next week.
“We are fighting for the Bundesliga title, where the points difference has diminished, and we need to keep winning in order to press Borussia Dortmund,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The Brazilian added that a win would not be that easy as Augsburg have been playing very well lately. He admitted that the team will have to give their all in order to get a result at Allianz Arena.
Rafinha insisted that Augsburg were tough opponents in the reverse fixture also and Bayern will have to be on their toes throughout the course of 90 minutes to make sure they take all three points from the game.
“We will face Augsburg at home in another round of the Bundesliga. Dealing with a derby, it is always difficult, as Augsburg have been playing well lately and will do everything to get at least one point at our ground. We've had
trouble against them in the first round, even if we won the game there,” the former Schalke man concluded.
Bayern Munich will take on Augsburg in front of the home fans on Saturday, April 7, whereas rivals Borussia Dortmund make a tough trip to Wolfsburg in their respective clash. The Bavarians are currently in second place with 60
points from the 28 games played thus far, three points adrift of the reigning champions.
