The Group B match in the Premier Limited Over Tournament between Ragama Cricket Club and Galle Cricket Club was affected by rain, which benefitted Ragama Cricket Club, who secured a 12-run win when the required target of 201 was reduced to 140 runs from 39.5 overs, at Nondescripts Cricket Club Ground, Colombo.
Ragama Cricket Club, who chose to field, tasted success in the sixth over when Perera dismissed R Damodaran (13) with 24 runs on the board.
The bowler then struck again when he dismissed CM Withanage, who found his way back after hammering 11 runs. At the time of this wicket, Galle Cricket Club had bolstered only 28 runs on the scorecard.
The third-wicket partnership between MH Wijesinghe and HL Moshin then led the side towards 59 runs, before this batting duo played its last with the dismissal of Wijesinghe for 15.
It was then time for skipper A Rideegammanagedera to join the party as he, alongside Moshin, took the score to 111 before getting caught and bowled by Siriwardana for 23.
While Moshin punished the bowlers from his end, the batsmen from the other side looked impatient and reckless, throwing away their wickets without posing a series threat.
ISS Samarasooriya (4), http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KP-Pietersen-c1806 Gajasinghe (2) and MKPB Kularatne (5) were unimpressive today, while Moshin managed to amass 45 runs before his departure.
RJI Udayanga and TR Priyan stayed unbeaten on 42 and 18, as they saw their side post 200 runs on the board.
From Ragama Cricket Club, K Weeraratne and AML Perera shared two wickets each as they led their side’s bowling attack.
Under heavily overcast conditions, Ragama Cricket Club began their run chase, but were put on the back foot early on, as they lost their first batsman with only nine runs on the board.
Then after posting 21 runs, they suffered the loss of their second wicket with opener MG Vandort succumbing after hitting 15 runs off his bat.
DM de Silva and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/HDRL-Thirimanne-c1542 crafted a nifty partnership in the middle, taking the score to 94, before de Silva was neutralized by Udayanga just a run short of a 40.
With HDRL Thirimanne on 60 and KPSP Karunanayake batting on 22 runs, the game was stopped due to heavy showers, which prevented the match from resuming again.
