Rage Collector’s Edition will be available on release date
Bethesda, the developer’s behind the upcoming game Rage, have gone on to confirm that the game will be available in a collector’s edition pack. The game is set to be released on the 7th of October and that now also happens to be the day, that
the collector’s edition will be out.
The Collector’s Edition will constitute of the game, a DVD highlighting the making of the game, two exclusive edition Rage comic books and some digital contents as well.
The official product description is quoted to read the following:
“The DVD takes viewers behind-the-scenes at id Software...id staff go into detail about the world they crafted, as well as the game's variety of intense missions, co-op modes and Road RAGE, the vehicular combat mode. Not only does the 'Making of' DVD contain
a behind-the-scenes series of interviews with the team, but also footage from the 2011 QuakeCon event.”
Some insight has also been provided in regards to the comic book:
“This comic series, developed with the direct participation of RAGE's creative director, Tim Willits, is set prior to the events in the game and will provide numerous insights into the game's storyline”
Rage seems to have finally joined the long list of games that are set to be released in exclusive collector’s editions. In fact, the release of games in collector’s editions seems to be becoming a trend, with game developers these days.
Nonetheless, these collector’s editions tend to pack in some amazing content and extras that would normally be close to impossible to land. The standard collector’s editions usually include, extra digital content, some exclusive DLC’s, action figures and
based on recent developments, DVD’s which highlight the thought processes behind the making of the games. However, despite these editions being so tempting, they tend to be priced much higher than the normal game, for obvious reasons.
Rage seem to have jumped on the bandwagon, with the collector’s edition, mainly because of the fact that the fourth quarter of 2011, is going to bear witness to a number of ground breaking games. Elder Scrolls: Skyrim, Battlefield 3, Modern Warfare 3 and
Uncharted 3 are just a few of the games that are set to release during the same time frame. As a result, Rage is looking to be able to provide a little something extra, in hopes to try and balance out its sales in these highly competitive times.
However, that being said, there is no assurance over how this move by the company is going to affect its sales, or if it’s going to affect them at all in the first place.
