Raheeba set to defy a penalty in Stay At The Holiday Inn Wolverhampton Fillies´ Handicap
After suffering a few awful defeats last month, Raheeba bounced back with a decisive win last week. The blinkers worked well for the 3-year-old, as she notched up the top place easily by two and a quarter lengths.
Despite being under a penalty, Mark Johnston’s charge is likely to continue the good work and script a handsome victory in the Stay At The Holiday Inn Wolverhampton Fillies´ Handicap, being hosted by Wolverhampton on Thursday, September 27, 2012.
Raheeba suddenly lost her rhythm after getting off the mark at Musselburgh in late July. She faced three terrible defeats at different venues before coming here for the first time. Wolverhampton turned to be a happy ground for the young filly, who easily
put her journey back on the winning ways.
She was quickly in command. Owned by Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, the daughter of Invincible Spirit lost her advantage at one stage, but soon brought things under control. She led again over 2f out, and kept running smoothly afterwards in the hands
of Martin Lane.
With the help a splendid effort, the 8-1 chance comfortably beat the 3-1 favourite, Refreshestheparts, with ease. She has a wonderful opportunity to improve her record on polytrack, and we expect her to make the most of it.
Merry Jaunt, who is off a fair mark, could pose a massive threat on her handicap debut. The 3-year-old is stepping into this company after doing well in Stakes. John Gosden’s trainee was runner-up on her previous two starts.
After finishing second at Sandown, the Khalid Abdulla-owned delivered another good effort to capture the runner-up spot at Chepstow last time. However, it was a huge defeat for Street Sense’s daughter, who was 14 lengths behind the winner.
Merry Jaunt is a fine runner, but we don’t expect her to thrive against Raheeba. Besides these two, there are 11 quick horses in the line-up. The officials at Wolverhampton will start the proceedings at 19:45 GMT. The winner of this class 5 race will receive
a cash prize worth £2,264. We wish the best of luck to all the participants.
