Rahi Doshi ensures her presence in main round of 2012 Junior National Badminton Championship
India’s talented youngster Rahi Doshi stretched her winning streak in the 37th Junior National Badminton Championship and gained access to the main round on November 11, 2012.
She confounded Vaishnavi Bhale with a mesmerising show of skills in Imphal and wrapped this showdown with favourable figures of 11-21, 23-21 and 21-12.
However, it was not an easy win as she had to sweat hard in three gruelling sets which lasted for 35 minutes.
Rahi Doshi came back from a horrendous start and locked the honour by prevailing in the ending two games.
On the other hand, the higher ranked shuttler Vaishnavi Bhale frittered away a golden opportunity of a straight-set victory and crashed out in a woeful manner.
She played with great precision in the first set of the match and finished this crucial game with a significant difference of ten points.
Vaishnavi made her intentions clear straight away in the beginning as she prevailed in couple of consecutive rallies.
She made best out of this initial advantage and doubled her lead before the one-minute break. She did not lose focus even after the interval and placed a winning margin of 21-11.
However, the story was entirely different in the following game as the suppressed shuttler of previous set managed to rise on her toes and counter-balanced the situation.
This time Rahi Doshi played with right attitude and fortitude to avoid a straight-set defeat. She took some time to read her rival’s game but then struck hard when it mattered.
Initially, she looked a bit confused due to first set loss and this resulted in a dreadful margin but she did not lose heart and levelled the score in second half. She showed a transformed character and finished this crucial set with a tight figure of 23-21.
The decider became consequential as both contenders were striving for an entry in the main draw. They challenged each other until half time but then Rahi displayed superior craft on court and locked the honour.
She maintained a notable difference of nine points and wrapped this battle with a staggering knock of 21-12.
This timely win led her to the main round of the 37th Junior National Badminton Championship
