Rahul Dravid calls for more foreign players in playing XI – Cricket News Update
The Rajasthan Royal skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/R-Dravid-c2229 on Thursday shared his desire to have more foreign players in the starting XI than at present. Currently, every team is allowed to play maximum four overseas players in a match, while a franchise can sign 11 foreign players in the full squad.
"We have a lot of very good foreign players. It is very difficult for us as we can only play four. I wish T20-League would change that and get more foreign players, but it's not possible. Someone has to miss out," said Dravid while speaking at the sidelines of a promotional campaign here in Kolkata.
Dravid shared this while lavishing praise on http://www.senore.com/Cricket/OA-Shah-c2134’s performance in the 2012 edition of the lucrative Indian Premier League. Shah, 34, has been one of Rajasthan’s leading run scorers last season, however, in the ongoing season six of the T20 league he has played only one match so far.
The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rajasthan-c837 skipper admitted that Shah was their top performer last season, however, he said that they are forced to keep him out of playing XI to maintain the balance of the side.
"I know he has been a top performer for us. In the last season, he had done very well but for the combination and balance of the side sometimes we can't fit all the foreign players," said Dravid, the former Indian batting stalwart.
With six win from nine matches, the Rajasthan based IPL franchise currently stands at No. 3 on the nine-team tournament’s points table, just behind Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Dravid, a former Indian skipper, also stressed on the importance of playing good cricket. He said that at the present his team was focused on moving to the tournament playoffs, and are not worried about the results of the other teams.
"To be honest, we aren't worried about what happens to other teams. We are focusing on ourselves. Whether others are in the play-offs or are knocked out, it doesn't matter. I don't care who the other three teams are in the play-offs as long as we are one of the four," insisted the Rajasthan skipper.
Dravid and Co will next take on defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens on Friday.
