Former Indian skipper, Rahul Dravid, is hopeful of his team’s good show during the home series against England, opening with the first battle on Friday, October 14, 2011.
India’s recent tour to England was not an event to remember for the Men in Blue, as the side suffered humiliating defeats in both One Day International (ODI) and Test series.
Dravid was the lone man who did something special with the bat and emerged as the highest run scorer in the Tests – 461 runs in four matches.
Perpetuating his good form to the shorter version of the game, he displayed a reasonable show in the ODIs and piled up 124 runs in five games.
The seasoned campaigner however, will not be there to serve his side during the home series since he has announced his retirement from the limited-over cricket.
Apart from Dravid’s unavailability, the Indian team has been suffering injuries of key players such as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/V-Sehwag-c2739.
Despite the fact that beating http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AN-Cook-c1026 and men will be a tough task for the home side, Dravid is confident about the young crew’s capability to achieve good results and come up to the expectations of their fans.
“There are still a number of players who are injured, which has given an opportunity to the youngsters and I believe that this team is good enough. All these players have played in the IPL and they have the experience of playing at the top level," insisted
Dravid who amassed 10889 runs during his 344-old-ODI career.
Talking about http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013, the veteran batsman gave full credit to the Poms for playing excellent cricket and outclassing Team India in every department of the game. He however, asked his teammates to focus on the current competition
and not to recall the past.
“We have lost the No. 1 Test status but we have not lost the confidence in ourselves. I don't think we should be worried about their performance in England. Such instances do occur in one's career but I have no doubt in their ability," added the 38-year-old
who is one of the greatest ever.
