Rahul Dravid finds ODIs to be tougher than Tests – Cricket News Update
Indian batting legend, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/R-Dravid-c2229, revealed that he had to work harder under the One Day International (ODI) format, compared to what he has done in the 5-day game. The maestro voiced his remarks just before his 15-year long ODI career’s final match, scheduled
to be played against the England hosts at the Sophia Gardens, Cardiff, on Friday, September 16, 2011.
However, Dravid also stated that the batter would expect to wrap up his decade or so long ODI career with a win, especially when India is yet to taste victory in the team’s ongoing, disappointing tour to England.
Dravid had already announced his retirement prior to the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 ODI series and just before his career finale, revealed that he does not dread leaving the shorter format of cricket since he will still be representing the national team in Tests.
“It does not feel like I'm finishing in some sense. I will still be doing the same things I have been doing in last two and a half years. But I had to work harder on my one-day cricket than in Tests,” said Dravid.
“I wouldn't dread quitting. I don't think after such a long period of time you don't dread the day. You recognise time would come when you would have to move on. Retiring wouldn't make much change in my life.”
The 38-year-old also stated that nothing has changed for him, since the batter still has a few days off prior to the scheduled Test series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760, and will be looking forward to the usual fitness and practice sessions.
Dravid, who is also known as ‘the Wall’, premiered his ODI career in 1996 against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758, and since then, embarked on a successful cricketing career, marking his participation in 343 matches and securing a mammoth aggregate of 10,820 runs at an average
of 39.06. The batter’s 15-year long career includes 12 centuries and 82 fifties.
In the end, the modest Dravid cited that he has had a satisfactory ODI and Test career and is surely satisfied with what he has given to his country.
