Rahul Dravid hopes Ricky Ponting continues lean patch during Indian series – Cricket News Update
India’s star cricketer http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RT-Ponting-c2377 continues his lean patch during the upcoming four match Test series between the two nations, starting from Monday, December 26, 2011.
Ponting has not scored a Test century in almost two years and has been widely criticised by former players and cricket experts.
However, the stylish batsman has been retained for the upcoming series against India and is likely to be a part of the playing eleven in the Boxing Day Test.
Despite Ponting’s struggle in the longest version of the game, Dravid rates him as one of the most dangerous players and expects him to be back in form very soon.
The Indian batsman stated, “I think he is still a great player. He showed in the couple of Test matches that he played against us in India that he is still the best Australian batsman. From our perspective I hope he can start a golden run after our series.
When you read his name on the sheet he is still one of the most feared, there is no doubt about it.”
Dravid further went onto say, “I was watching those Test matches (in South Africa) and was in some way hoping that he would score runs. I hoped he would score runs in the next Test (against New Zealand) and then take a bit of a break against us.”
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 does not have a very good track record playing away from home. They have played nine Test series in Australia without winning any.
However, the team has got a good chance this time around, as the Kangaroos have been struggling to perform consistently in the longest version of the game.

This will give http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028 and his men a golden opportunity of beating the Kangaroos on their home soil for the first time in history.
It will not be an easy task though, as the Indian team has been struggling with injury problems to their leading fast bowlers http://www.senore.com/Cricket/I-Sharma-c1566. If the duo manages to retain fitness throughout the series, the opposition will be given a tough
time.
