http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sunil-Joshi-c91853, and feels that the player has lived up to the legacy of Karnataka cricket.
The 42-year-old called it a day from domestic cricket earlier this month and a ceremony was organized by the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Karnataka-c801 State Cricket Association (KSCA) to pay tribute to his great services.
Historically, Karnataka has produced a number of great cricketers like Dravid himself, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Anil-Kumble-c44737.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Joshi-c69506 has a fantastic record at the domestic level as he has grabbed 615 first-class scalps after 160 matches at an average of 25.12, which is quite brilliant for a slow bowler.
The left-arm spinner made his Test debut in 1996 against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 and went on to represent his country in 15 Tests and 69 One Day Internationals, in which he took more than a hundred wickets. In the presence of some great spinners like Kumble and Harbhajan
Singh, the cricketer from Karnataka failed to cement his place in the national team for a long period of time.
Dravid, who himself retired from the international sport earlier this year, feels that Joshi deserves immense praise for everything that he has achieved over the years.
"I think, when I look back at what Sunil has achieved all these years, I think he has been an ornament of the game, and of Indian cricket," the former captain said.
One of the greatest Test batsmen of the modern-day cricket expressed that his state has produced many great spinners in the previous decades and Joshi lived up to the rich history. The former top-order batsman also has the experience of captaining the left-arm
spinner in the Ranji Trophy and said that Joshi had the ability to bowl throughout the day without complaining.
Dravid expressed, "He lived up to that great spin legacy that Karnataka has had. It is people like Sunil who make http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kumar-Shri-Ranjitsinhji-c71870 Trophy, make domestic cricket what it is. His experience, class helps younger players and also rivals. I remember while captaining him
in a game against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hyderabad-c792, he bowled the first over and he bowled the 45th over too at the end of the day and that is Sunil.”
