The KKR won the toss and opted to bowl first on a flat batting track. The decision turned out to be the right one as hosts managed just 144 runs in their allotted 20 overs for the loss of six wickets, with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Brad-Hodge-c1184 top-scoring with an unbeaten 46.
With a number of high-quality batsmen in their ranks, the visitors were expected to chase down the total easily. That was not the case however, as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/G-Gambhir-c1447 and company were bowled out for just 125 runs in 19 overs, falling short by 19 runs. Siddarth
Trivedi and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kevon-Cooper-c71194 shined with the ball for the Royals, picking up three wickets each.

“With the bat, we were at least 15-20 runs below par, but our bowlers responded very well. Partnership between Hodge and Yagnik got us there. Trivedi bowled a good spell, Gambhir's wicket was a big one,” Dravid expressed. “We picked regular wickets in the
early overs. Look at their middle order, Pathan, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Morgan-c77707, Tiwary, Gambhir, who wants to bowl spin to them, pound them with a bit of pace.”
On the other side of the coin, Gambhir, the losing team’s captain, is extremely disappointed with the performance of his batting line-up and admitted that they should have achieved the target. The left-handed opener was all praise for his bowlers.
“We kept losing wickets at the wrong time. 144 was a good job done by the bowlers, it was a good wicket to bat on, we should have chased it,” Gambhir expressed.
Trivedi, the right-arm medium pacer from Royals was named as the Player of the Match, having conceded just 23 runs in his quota of four overs after picking up three scalps.
