The 39-year-old former Indian skipper, who was given the responsibility to lead the Royals after http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shane-Keith-Warne-c89672 called a day on his cricketing career at the end of IPL 4, has been leading the side from the front right from the start of the tournament. The opening
duo scored the bulk of runs for the team this season, but lack of support from the middle and lower order cost the side a number of close games.
"It was a pleasure to lead...As far as my own performance is concerned I played my role as the opener with Ajinkya Rahane to satisfaction. I feel batting is one thing and scoring runs is another thing," said the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rajasthan-c837 skipper while speaking to the media
reporters after his side lost the final league game of the tournament to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 Indians by 10 wickets.
"We need a young and talented player who could open the innings with Rahane. He might be with some other franchise but we would try and rope him for the next season," he added further.
With a tally of 462 runs from 16 outings, Dravid finished IPL-V as the second highest run scorer for Royals, just behind opening partner Ajinkya Rahane, who has 560 runs from as many innings.
The former Indian skipper also expressed gratitude to the Rajasthan team management and the support staff for their support throughout the tournament.
Blaming his side’s poor bowling and fielding for the 10-wicket thumping at the hands of Harbhajan and company at home on Sunday, Dravid said it was disappointing that they could not make it to play offs. He however, said that they played some good cricket
and have a lot of positives to be taken from the unsuccessful 2012 IPL campaign.
"We have youngsters like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gajendra-Singh-c58318 who is a fine bowler but couldn't get a chance to play," said the former Indian cricketer, who retired from international
cricket in March this year.
Shilpa Shetty’s Rajasthan Royals finished the fifth edition of Indian Premier League seventh on the standings, with seven wins from 16 outings.
