Rajasthan Royals opener, Rahul Dravid, cited lack of experienced players as the major cause of his side’s lackluster performance in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL).
Rajasthan, under the leadership of former Australian leg-spinner, Shane Warne, took an impressive start in the tournament with two consecutive wins over Deccan Chargers and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Delhi-c780 Daredevils respectively. They were even at the top of the IPL standings midway
through this season; but four defeats pushed them down the group and they failed to reserve their place for the play-offs.
Rajasthan now can’t lift their position up in the points table, even if they manage to win their last game against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 Indians, to be played on May 20.
Currently, Rajasthan are languishing at the seventh place on the points table with five wins, out of their 13 matches played so far.
Dravid said that other participant teams of the League have more experienced players in their squads.
“While most of the other franchises picked up at least a dozen players in January's auction of top cricketers, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rajasthan-c837 were content with buying only six players with international experience and building the squad with lesser-known Indians,” said Dravid.
The veteran also added that, some youngsters as, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ajinkya-Rahane-c970 played a significant role for the Rajasthan.
In the ongoing season, Dravid has been the top scorer for his side with 300 runs in 11 innings at an average of 27.27. He has been giving consistent performance throughout League, and his best performance of 66 runs was seen against Chennai Super Kings in
a losing cause.
Following the IPL’s conclusion, Dravid will start his next campaign with the Indian team to the tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760, where he will play in the Tests, scheduled to start from June 20.
The 38-year-old had earlier played a key role in guiding http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 to their first ever Test series win in the Caribbean after a long period of 35 years.
Dravid has high expectations from the tour and said that if the West Indians play their full strength, they can become a challenge for Indians
