Indian middle-order batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rahul-c83321 “The Wall” Dravid, has been in supreme form with the bat off late and the veteran wants to make the most of his good patch while it lasts.
Dravid on Monday, November 14, 2011, scored his 36th Test hundred on the first day of the Test match against the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760.
Hoping to prolong his golden run with the bat, Dravid said, “It feels as if I am in some form. I am in a good patch. I'm in good space with my game and mentally as well. I am really trying to make it count and let it last as long
as I can.”
The Wall was going through a lean patch before the start of 2011 and most critics said that his career was over. However, Dravid hung in and showed nerves of steel. The batsman fought his way back to form and is now the leading
run scorer in Tests, for the year 2011.
Dravid reckons that it was the series in West Indies that revived him and gave him confidence. He just carried on from the century in Jamaica and never looked back.
“I had been through a tough time. But I feel good... Even in the nets, I feel quite relaxed. Just want to make it count till it lasts. Cricket; it's a funny game, you never know when the tough time is round the corner.,” said the
38-year-old Dravid.
The Wall is the second highest run scorer in Tests after fellow Indian cricketer http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SR-Tendulkar-c2556. Dravid is a mere 21 runs short of a milestone 13, 000. The right-handed batsman has to wait for his second innings to reach this
landmark.
Stating that he never cared for personal achievements and goals, the veteran batsman said, “I don't think too much about numbers, averages and statistics. Just try and focus on preparation. Get into the right frame of mind, every
time I play. Sometimes I succeed, sometimes I don't.”
Dravid scored 119 runs, his fifth Test century in the past six months, on the opening day of Kolkata Test. However, the batsman got out just before the close of play. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 will resume their inning on second day with an overnight
score of 346 for the loss of five wickets.
