Rahul Dravid will be hard to replace, feels Sunil Gavaskar – Cricket News Update
Legendary Indian cricketer, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/R-Dravid-c2229 has announced his retirement from international cricket and he praised the decision of the veteran cricketer, as he left space for young cricketers.
Dravid is considered amongst the best batsmen ever produced by Indian, and surely he was one of the best batsmen of the modern era, when it comes to technique.
The Indian team failed to deliver the goods in their recent tours of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SR-Tendulkar-c2556 are yet to make this decision but Dravid has decided
that it was time to call it a day.
Gavaskar, who himself was a great batsman, feels that Dravid was an exceptional performer for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 and it will not be possible for the Indian selectors to find his replacement soon.
The former opening batsman further added that Dravid’s decision was an expected one as he is now in his late-30s.
Gavaskar said, "It will be a big hole to fill. It was a decision in the pipeline for some time, because once a player gets 35-36, talks of leaving the game are at the back of his mind, so really didn't come as a surprise."
The cricketer turned commentator believes that the ball is in the court of the young and upcoming batsmen of India to perform, and make sure that the fans do not miss Dravid’s ability to stay at the crease for long hours.
The former great also added that Dravid could have carried on for some more time but his brave decision should be admired.
"The results will not be immediate but they will be soon enough. It's a bold decision. A tough decision for anyone to take. He probably doesn't feel he has no cricket left. He is making way for the youngsters which is amazing. It's sort of an example for
many others," former cricketer added.
Cricket will surely miss a great batsman and his footsteps will be hard to follow.
